Time Teapographies

I fold art into daily life and daily life into my arts practice whenever I can. The “Time Teapography” Series is an example of this.

This series is a long-term layering of tea drips, marking weeks, months, years of a morning ritual. Each tea "tinaja" or rivulet is created from a slavaged black tea-drip gently squeezed from the teabag from my morning cuppa and applied to paper in that morning moment and left to dry. As the liquid evaporates, the mark changes. Day after day, these repurposed tea marks create a map of my mornings. Each tea tinaja becomes a footprint of a daily ritual of morning tea-drinking, the passage of time and the aesthetics of evaporation in our desert climate.
