2006 – 2007 Outreach Coordinator, Office Manager and Graphic designer for Art of the Song, nationally syndicated radio show, Taos, New Mexico. October 2006 Archaeological Tech, 30-day hire for U.S. Bureau of Land Management, Wild Rivers Recreation Area. Duties included GPS transect field survey with field notes, and artifact documentation and basic analysis.
Aug – Dec 2005 Student of the place-based, interdisciplinary program, Land Arts of the American West, University of New Mexico. 14 students traveled for 50 days as a nomadic group to 15 sites through out the American West and Northern Mexico, covering over 9,000 miles of territory, culminating in the annual Land Arts exhibition.
2004 - 2005: Outreach coordinator for the Los Alamos Study Group, Albuquerque, NM. Duties included management of and recruitment for the state-wide “Call for Nuclear Disarmament” campaign, researching and compiling public education tools and resources, organizing and promoting on-going events, authoring related promotional articles, supervising volunteers, and organizing August 6th: Hiroshima 60 Years in Los Alamos, a day of action including over 2000 commemorative sunflowers and 3000 candle lantern set a float at dusk.
May 2004: Senior Honors Thesis for the Anthropology Department at University of New Mexico, “Public Art in Albuquerque: Crossing Disciplines, Overcoming Boundaries to Create Community” (unpublished).
July 2003 to July 2004 (Intermittent): Student-hire as Computer Assistant at the U.S. National Park Service Intermountain Support Office—Santa Fe GS-07 level. Duties included cultural resource database management using Microsoft Access and Excel, electronic document archive development using Adobe Acrobat 5.3 and current scanning and optical character recognizing software; and taking and enhancing digital photos using Corel Draw 11 and Photoshop 7. Other duties included post-field sorting, labeling and packaging archeological artifacts according to Department of Interior curation standards, as well as photographing individual objects for inclusion in the final report.
August 2001 to May 2004: Work-study Director of Clark Field Archive and Anthropology Library at the University of New Mexico. Responsibilities included hiring and rehiring, training, scheduling and allocating duties according to the individual abilities of three to four work-study employees, maintenance of the collection, journal subscriptions, as well as cataloging and tracking reserve materials using Microsoft Access. Other duties included public relations with patrons and anthropology faculty, receiving donations and implementing policy decisions made by Clark Field Archives board of directors.
Fall 2000 - Fall 2001: Contract as graphic artist for the U.S. National Park Service. Duties included background research for and creation of 12 pen and ink renderings of natural environment, prehistoric inhabitants, Conquistadores, and Civil War residents at Fort Craig National Historical Site, for interpretive wayside signs.
September 2000: Poster-session of visual art and research project, “The Convergence of Peace, Spirituality, Conflict and Religion through Imagery and Symbols” at the International Society of Professionals In Dispute Resolution (SPIDR) conference, Albuquerque, N.M.
Abilities with ASL (American Sign Language): June 2004-Attended “Silent Week” at the New Mexico School for the Deaf in Santa Fe, during which all participants were immersed in sign language and deaf culture for 5 days. 2002-2005 attended classes in ASL at the University of New Mexico.
Abilities with Spanish: Attended four consecutive semesters of Spanish 2001-2003 at the University of New Mexico for basic comprehension and speaking ability. Travel to Spain for two weeks summer 2003, travel to Mexico for 3 weeks summer 2004.
